What we look at, brand by brand

Rolex is priced reference by reference against the secondary market, so a Submariner, Daytona or GMT-Master is quoted on its exact model, dial and bracelet rather than on brand alone. Omega splits the same way: Speedmaster Professional chronographs and vintage Seamasters trade on collector demand, while gold Constellation and De Ville dress models are read partly on case weight.

Cartier Tank, Santos and Ballon Bleu are valued on case metal, size and originality of the dial and hands. Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet are quoted individually — a Nautilus or Royal Oak is a different conversation from a classic dress reference, and both deserve an unhurried inspection. Breitling, IWC, TAG Heuer, Panerai, Tudor and Jaeger-LeCoultre are all bought regularly, working or in need of service.

If your brand is not listed, bring it anyway. Testing and appraisal are free, and a solid gold case of any maker always carries metal value.

Selling locally vs. shipping your watch away

Online watch buyers and consignment platforms ask you to mail an expensive watch, wait for an inspection you cannot see, and accept a revised offer after it has already left your hands. Auction houses can reach strong prices but take a seller's commission and pay out weeks or months later.

Selling a Breitling in Houston

Breitling value turns on the collection and the movement. Navitimer, Chronomat, Superocean and Avenger references are the ones we see most, and an in-house B01 chronograph movement is read differently from an ETA or Valjoux-based caliber of the same era — the in-house pieces generally hold a firmer floor in the resale market.

Case size and material matter more with Breitling than with most brands, because the line spans 38 mm dress-leaning pieces up to 46 mm and above. Larger steel sports references and gold or two-tone cases are quoted separately; on gold models, the metal content sets a floor beneath the brand value.

Bring the bracelet if you have it. A missing original Breitling bracelet is one of the more expensive things to replace, so a watch on an aftermarket strap is quoted lower than the same reference on its factory bracelet. Box, warranty booklet and any service invoices add to the offer without being required.

Selling a TAG Heuer in Houston

TAG Heuer sits at the accessible end of Swiss luxury, so the resale spread between references is wide. Carrera and Monaco chronographs — particularly automatic and Heuer 02 movement versions — carry the strongest demand, while quartz Formula 1 and Aquaracer models are valued more modestly and are priced mainly on condition and completeness.

Vintage Heuer, signed 'Heuer' rather than 'TAG Heuer' and made before 1985, is a separate market entirely and is valued on originality: factory dial, correct hands, unpolished case and matching case back. Do not have a vintage Heuer polished or serviced before selling — original finish is worth more than a fresh one.

Because service costs are meaningful relative to the value of a mid-range TAG, a non-running automatic is quoted against the estimated repair. We still buy it; the number simply reflects the work the watch needs.

Selling an IWC in Houston

IWC value follows the collection and the caliber. Portugieser and Portofino dress pieces, Pilot's Watches including the Big Pilot and Mark series, Aquatimer and Ingenieur all trade at different levels, and in-house calibers such as the 52000 and 69000 families support stronger offers than ETA-based references of the same size.

Materials swing IWC offers more than most collectors expect. Titanium, ceramic and bronze cases are quoted on demand for that specific execution rather than metal content, while red and white gold Portugieser and Portofino cases carry a genuine precious-metal floor underneath the brand value.

IWC paperwork is worth holding onto. The original certificate and, on Pilot's and Portugieser references, service records showing an authorized movement service inside the last five years both move the number upward. Watch-only IWC is bought every week regardless.

How every brand on this page is evaluated

Whatever the maison, the sequence is the same: identify the reference, confirm the movement is correct and running, assess originality of dial, hands and bezel, check the case for over-polishing, weigh any precious metal against live spot, and compare the result against what that reference is currently trading for. We explain each step at the counter and there is no charge or obligation.

Watches we buy that are not modern Swiss luxury

The luxury counter is wider than the brand list above. Any watch with a solid gold or platinum case and bracelet is bought on its metal weight against the live market, whatever the maker and whatever condition the movement is in — an unsigned 14K case from the 1960s is weighed the same way a signed one is.

Vintage wristwatches and pocket watches are a separate conversation. American pocket watches from Hamilton, Elgin, Waltham and Illinois, railroad-grade movements, hunter and open-face gold cases, and vintage Swiss wristwatches from the 1930s through the 1970s are all appraised on movement grade, case metal and originality rather than on brand recognition alone.

Whole collections and estate holdings are handled piece by piece in one visit. If a relative left a drawer of watches — a mix of luxury, gold-cased, vintage and costume — bring the whole drawer. Non-running, unserviced and incomplete watches

A watch that does not run is still a watch we buy. Most of the value in a luxury reference sits in the case, bracelet, dial and movement as an object, not in whether the seconds hand is sweeping today, so a dead Submariner, a seized Speedmaster or a Cartier with a flat battery all still get a real number.

Where a movement needs work, we estimate the service cost against current watchmaker rates and show you how that figure was subtracted before the offer is made. That is the whole adjustment — there is no separate penalty for bringing in a watch that needs attention.

Incomplete watches are bought too. Missing bracelet, wrong crown, aftermarket strap, no box, no papers, a replaced bezel insert, even a case and movement with no dial: bring what you have. Original parts raise the number, and their absence lowers it, but neither stops the sale. Do not have anything polished, repaired or restored first — original finish is almost always worth more than a fresh one.

How you get paid

Payment happens the same visit you accept the offer. Most watch purchases are settled in cash on the spot, and for qualifying higher-value pieces you can take a bank wire instead if you would rather not carry the amount out of the store. You choose which, and there is no difference in the offer either way.
