How Selling Your Gold & Valuables Works

Gold King is a family-owned buyer of gold jewelry and scrap, sterling silver and silver coins, diamonds, jewelry and luxury watches in Houston, Texas. Bring your items to our Southwest Freeway counter, watch them get tested and weighed, ask whatever you want to ask, and decide afterwards. The evaluation is free and there is no obligation to sell — if the number is not right for you, your items go home with you.

Not sure your item is something we buy? Start with what Gold King does as a Houston gold buyer, see how same-day cash payouts are calculated or, if you own a Rolex, what we pay for Rolex references. You can also call 713-997-0875 and describe what you have.

The four steps of a visit

  1. 01

    Bring your items in

Gather anything you are thinking about selling — gold jewelry, sterling silver, coins, diamond and gem-set pieces, and Rolex or other luxury watches. Broken chains, single earrings, dental gold and non-running watches are all worth bringing; nothing needs to be cleaned, sorted or repaired first.

If you still have boxes, papers, service receipts or grading reports for a watch or a diamond, bring them along. They help support a stronger number, but they are not required — plenty of the pieces we buy arrive with no paperwork at all. You will also need a valid government-issued photo ID, which Texas law requires precious metal dealers to record on every purchase.

  2. 02

We evaluate everything at the counter

Each item is tested and reviewed in front of you — never in a back room. For gold and silver we check purity by acid or electronic test, weigh on a certified scale and apply the live spot price for that metal. For diamonds we grade carat, cut, color and clarity under loupe and scope. For watches we authenticate the piece and note the reference, model, condition and whether it runs.

Brand matters too: signed jewelry and Swiss watches are considered for their resale demand rather than just their metal weight. You can see exactly how our gold pricing is calculated before you decide anything.

  3. 03

Review your offer and ask questions

We walk you through the numbers — the weight, the karat result, the spot price we used and what each piece contributed. Ask as many questions as you like, and take your time. The appraisal is free and there is no obligation to sell.

If the offer is not right for you, you take your items home with you. Plenty of people come in to learn what they have and come back weeks or months later.

  4. 04

Accept and get paid the same visit

Once you accept, we complete the paperwork and pay you before you leave. Most purchases are paid in cash on the spot, and the whole visit typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Bank wire is offered on high-value watches, bullion positions and estate lots where a cash payout is impractical.

What to bring

  • The items themselves — no cleaning, sorting or repairs needed
  • A valid government-issued photo ID (required by Texas law)
  • Boxes, papers or service receipts for watches, if you still have them
  • Grading reports or appraisals for diamonds, if you have them
  • Any original receipts for designer or signed jewelry
  • Your questions — we would rather answer them before you decide

Missing something on the list? Come in anyway — the only item that is genuinely required is your photo ID.

Questions people ask before coming in

Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome during regular hours — open monday–thursday 9:30 am–7:00 pm, friday–saturday 9:30 am–8:00 pm, sunday 12:00–7:00 pm. After-hours meetings can be arranged by calling 713-997-0875 if that suits your schedule better.
How long does an evaluation take?
Most visits are done in about 15 to 20 minutes. Larger estates, bullion positions and multi-watch lots take longer because each piece is reviewed individually.
Am I required to sell after receiving an offer?
No. The appraisal is free and there is no obligation. If the offer is not right for you, you take your items home with you.
How do I get paid?
Most purchases are paid in cash before you leave. Bank wire is offered on high-value watches, bullion positions and estates where a cash payout is impractical.
What should I bring when selling gold?
Bring the items themselves and a valid government-issued photo ID. Texas law requires precious metal dealers to record seller identification on every purchase. Any receipts or certificates you happen to have are welcome but not required. Questions first? Call 713-997-0875.
Do I need the box and papers to sell a Rolex?
No. Watches are bought with or without box and papers. Having them generally supports a stronger number, so bring them if you still have them.
