Selling gold bars in Houston

Gold bars are valued on stated fineness and weight against the live spot price, with a small spread that we state as a percentage before you agree to anything. A 1 oz PAMP Suisse bar in assay packaging, a 10 oz Credit Suisse bar and a kilo Perth Mint bar are all straightforward transactions once authenticity is verified.

Keep bars in their assay cards or sealed packaging if they are still in it. Sealed, serial-matched packaging speeds verification and supports the strongest pricing, though we buy loose bars every week as well.

Authentication and larger positions

Every bar is checked with electronic conductivity testing, precision weight and dimensional measurement, and ultrasonic testing on larger sizes where tungsten cores are a known counterfeit method. All of it happens on the counter in front of you at no charge.

For positions large enough that carrying cash is impractical, we settle by bank wire. Call 713-997-0875 ahead of a large sale so we can prepare pricing and have the funds ready the same day.

Also useful: sell bullion coins instead of bars.

Which bullion products we buy

Cast and minted gold bars in every common size — 1 gram, 2.5 g, 5 g, 10 g, 20 g, 1 oz, 50 g, 100 g, 10 oz and 1 kilo — from mints and refiners the trade recognises, including PAMP Suisse, Credit Suisse, Valcambi (single bars and CombiBars), Perth Mint, Royal Canadian Mint, Argor-Heraeus, Asahi and Engelhard.

Gold rounds struck by private mints are bought as well. Rounds are not sovereign coins, so they trade closer to plain metal content than an American Eagle does, but a recognised hallmark and stated fineness still make them quick to verify and price.

On the silver side we buy 1 oz, 5 oz, 10 oz and 100 oz bars, silver rounds, and larger accumulations of mixed generic bars. Platinum bars and rounds are bought against the live platinum market on the same terms.

Also useful: sell gold jewelry on the same visit or sell silver bars and sterling.

Weight, purity and packaging — what actually moves the number

Bullion is priced on three inputs: actual weight on a calibrated scale, stated fineness (999, 9995 or 9999 for gold; 999 for most silver), and the live spot price at the moment you agree. There is no karat testing involved the way there is with jewelry, because the bar states its own purity and our job is to confirm it is genuine.

Packaging matters more than most sellers expect. A bar still sealed in its assay card with a serial number matching the certificate verifies in seconds and sits at the top of the pricing range. A bar removed from its packaging is still perfectly sellable — it simply takes an extra verification step, and heavily scratched or trimmed bars are quoted more conservatively because the market discounts them too.

Condition otherwise plays a small role for gold. Toning on silver bars is normal and does not reduce the metal content, so do not clean or polish anything before bringing it in — cleaning can leave marks that make a bar look tampered with.

How a bullion offer is determined

The offer starts from the live spot price for the metal, is multiplied by the verified weight in troy ounces or grams, and then a stated spread is applied — the same spread we quote to you out loud before any decision. Larger, widely traded sizes such as 1 oz and 10 oz gold bars carry the tightest spread; odd sizes, unbranded bars and generic silver carry slightly wider ones because they are harder to move on.

We do not deduct handling, testing, refining or assay fees, and we do not change the number after you accept it. If the spot price moves while you are in the store, the price you were quoted is the price you are paid.

Sell Bullion — Questions & Answers

How do you verify bullion is real?
We use electronic conductivity testing, precision scales and dimensional checks, and ultrasonic testing on larger bars. All testing is done in front of you and is free.
Do you buy large bullion positions?
Yes. Gold King buys large gold and silver positions and can pay by bank wire when the amount exceeds a comfortable cash transaction.
Do you buy platinum and palladium?
Yes. Platinum and palladium bars, coins and jewelry are purchased at live spot pricing for each metal.
Where can I sell gold bars in Houston?
Gold King buys gold bars at 6809 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77074, quoting a stated percentage of live spot with no deductions. Authentication is free and done in front of you.
Should I open the assay packaging before selling a bar?
No. Sealed assay cards with matching serial numbers speed verification and support better pricing. Bring the bar sealed if it still is.
Do you buy generic or unbranded bullion bars?
Yes. Generic bars and privately minted rounds are bought on verified weight and fineness. The spread is slightly wider than on a recognised mint bar, and we tell you that number before you decide.
How much do you pay for a 1 oz gold bar?
A 1 oz bar is paid as the live gold spot price multiplied by one troy ounce, less a stated spread we quote out loud. Because spot moves continuously, the exact dollar figure is only accurate at the moment of the quote.
Do you buy silver bullion as well as gold?
Yes. Silver bars from 1 oz to 100 oz, silver rounds and mixed generic silver are all bought against the live silver market, along with platinum bars and rounds.
