Sell a Rolex Submariner in Houston, TX

The Submariner is the most traded Rolex in the world, which means the market price for your exact reference is knowable — and we show you how we got there.

Submariner offers are built from the reference number, the bezel and dial configuration, the case condition, whether the watch is original, and current secondary-market demand for that reference. We inspect the watch with you at the counter and explain each factor before quoting.

Which Submariner do you actually have?

The reference number is engraved between the lugs at 12 o'clock under the bracelet, or printed on the warranty card and the inside of the case back on newer pieces. It is the first thing we look for, because two Submariners of the same age can differ substantially in value on reference alone.

The key dividing lines are the move to a ceramic Cerachrom bezel and Maxi case in 2010 (the 116610 generation replacing the 16610), the 2020 switch to the 41mm 126610 with the calibre 3235, and the presence or absence of a date. No-date Submariners such as the 14060M and 114060 have their own following, and the four-line 14060M in particular is sought after.

Dial, bezel and material variations that matter

Green bezel models carry their own market. The 16610LV Kermit, 116610LV Hulk and 126610LV Starbucks each trade differently from the black-bezel version of the same reference, and the Hulk in particular has held a premium since it was discontinued.

On vintage references, dial details drive the number more than case condition: gilt dials, matte dials, tritium versus luminova, and factory service replacement dials all move value in different directions. Two-tone and yellow gold Submariners (16613, 16618, 116613) carry an intrinsic metal value floor that steel references do not.

Condition, originality and polishing

Originality is worth more than cosmetic perfection on this model. A watch with sharp, unpolished lugs and honest wear will usually outperform one that has been heavily polished into rounded corners, because polishing removes metal permanently and cannot be undone.

We check the bezel insert for correctness, the bracelet for stretch, the crown guards for reshaping, the crystal for aftermarket replacement, and whether the movement is the correct calibre for the reference. Non-running Submariners are still bought — a service is a known cost, not a disqualification.

Box, papers and service records

A full set — outer and inner box, warranty card or punched paper, booklets, hang tags — meaningfully raises what a Submariner brings on resale, and we pay accordingly. But the majority of Submariners we buy in Houston come in with none of it, and that never stops a sale.

Rolex service papers matter too. A recent service from an authorized center or a competent independent, with the invoice, reduces the buyer's risk and supports a stronger offer. Bring whatever paperwork exists, even if it is only a receipt in a drawer.

Sell a Rolex Submariner — Questions & Answers

Where can I sell a Rolex Submariner in Houston?
Gold King buys Submariners in person at 6809 Southwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77074, open Monday–Thursday 9:30 AM–7:00 PM, Friday–Saturday 9:30 AM–8:00 PM and Sunday 12:00–7:00 PM, and pays the same visit. Call 713-997-0875 for a phone range first.
Can I sell a Submariner without box and papers?
Yes. A full set supports a stronger offer, but most Submariners we buy arrive as watch-only and are purchased every week.
Does polishing lower what my Submariner is worth?
Heavy polishing does, because it permanently removes case metal and softens the lug lines. Do not have the watch polished before selling — originality is worth more than shine on this model.
Do you buy a Submariner that has stopped running?
Yes. A non-running Submariner is bought with the cost of service factored in. We will tell you what we believe the watch needs and how that affected the number.
Is a green bezel Submariner worth more?
Green-bezel references such as the Hulk and Kermit trade in their own market and are usually worth more than the black-bezel version of the same reference. The exact difference depends on current demand.
