Rolesium, Everose and solid gold
Rolex coined 'Rolesium' for the Yacht-Master combination of an Oystersteel case and bracelet with a solid platinum bezel. The sandblasted platinum bezel with raised, polished numerals is the defining feature of the family, and it is the part we look at hardest, because the numerals lose their crispness once someone has tried to polish the bezel.
Everose models on the black Oysterflex strap, and full yellow gold references such as the 16628, sit in different price territory again — partly on metal content, partly because the buyer for a gold Yacht-Master is not the buyer for a steel-and-platinum one.
The Yacht-Master II is a different watch entirely
The Yacht-Master II is a 44mm regatta chronograph with a programmable countdown and a Ring Command bezel that interacts mechanically with the movement. Setting and using it is a genuinely different experience, and the reference numbers, market and typical values have almost nothing in common with the standard Yacht-Master.

Bezel numerals, straps and case size
Worn or re-polished raised numerals are the most common condition issue on this family, and they are not economically repairable. Even wear across the bezel is normal for an older watch; uneven softening usually means someone has been at it with a polishing wheel.
Oysterflex straps perish and stretch with wear and sunlight, and a tired strap is a straightforward deduction rather than a dealbreaker. Case size matters too — the 37mm, 40mm and 42mm versions of a similar-looking watch sell to different buyers and are quoted separately.
